About

Merritt is a results-driven healthcare executive with more than 25 years of experience, including 20 years in leadership roles within PE-backed, multi-state retail healthcare organizations. He is skilled at creating operational efficiencies, driving financial performance, optimizing provider productivity, enhancing revenue per visit, improving patient outcomes, and scaling through de novo expansion and innovative leadership. In addition to delivering strategic growth, he has a proven ability to unify cultures, and inspire mission-driven environments that enhance employee engagement and organizational alignment, even within acquired and merged entities, and scaling national platforms.

Notably, Merritt has scaled healthcare operations to more than 160 locations across 11 states, driving organic growth initiatives to achieve double-digit increases in patient volume and revenue, and $10M–$22.8M in EBITDA growth through value creation plans. His expertise spans urgent care, ambulatory services, workers’ compensation, physical rehabilitation, behavioral health, Autism Spectrum Disorders, post-acute care, and global tech-enabled healthcare solutions.

Merritt has served as the inaugural President and COO of a private equity-backed urgent care provider for behavioral health and crisis services. He also served as COO and President of a leading national provider of physical rehabilitation and occupational therapy services. In addition, Merritt has served as an Operating Partner and strategic advisor to private equity and venture capital firms.

Before joining FMG Leading, Merritt held the inaugural COO role at a PE-backed, tech-enabled language services provider, where he was recruited to lead operational transformation and position the business for scalable growth, enterprise readiness, and executional discipline. He partnered with the Founder/CEO and PE stakeholders to modernize systems, restructure global operations, and elevate performance across healthcare and life sciences markets.

Merritt holds an MS in Finance from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and an MS in Health Systems Administration from Florida International University. He’s also completed executive leadership programs at Harvard Business School, Stanford University Graduate School of Business, Columbia Business School, and Santa Clara University.

Personal
Merritt resides in the Atlanta metropolitan area. He is a CrossFit enthusiast and has participated in 100-mile bike races for organizations raising funds to increase prevention and awareness of multiple sclerosis and breast cancer.
