About

Andrés Tapia is a globally recognized strategist, author, and transformation advisor with over 25 years of experience guiding organizations through leadership, culture, and system-level change. A bilingual and bicultural voice in global leadership, Andrés brings a strategic, cross culturally competent, systems-thinking approach to problem solving and strategic responses with a focus on measurable outcomes in business results, leadership effectiveness, and team optimization.

Prior to FMG Leading, Andrés served as a Senior Partner at Korn Ferry, President of a thinktank, and Chief Diversity Officer at a global consultancy. He has led enterprise-wide initiatives across Fortune 500 companies, healthcare systems, nonprofits, and non-US multinationals in Brazil, South Korea, and India.

Andrés’ advisory work is rooted in deep diagnostic insight, practical research-based frameworks, and innovative, high engagement learning and innovation incubation learning sessions that enable leaders to align purpose, performance, and people strategy in high-disruption environments.

Andrés is the founder of Andrés Tapia Strategy Group, LLC, a boutique consultancy helping organizations navigate disruption through character-based leadership, inclusive team dynamics, and cultural transformation. He has authored six books, including the upcoming “CharacterGPS™: Shaping a Life That Matters,” and is the co-creator of the CharacterGPS™ assessment, a proprietary tool designed to help leaders build internal alignment and strategic clarity. Andrés is also the co-host of DISRUPT: The Podcast™, which explores transformation in work, play, relationships, and society through the stance of leaning into disruption to achieve breakthrough competitive advantage.

Andrés is the recipient of numerous leadership and diversity awards and currently serves on the boards of Leadership Greater Chicago, Jobs For The Future, and Ravinia Festival. He is also an elected official as a City Councilmember in Highland Park, Illinois.

Andrés earned a bachelor’s degree in modern history from Northwestern University in the Chicago area, with an emphasis in journalism and political science.

Personal
Andrés grew up in Lima, Perú, and currently lives outside of Chicago, IL. When not consulting, he’s a writer (nonfiction, fiction poetry) and loves dancing and drumming.
