About
For more than a decade, Doug Van Wie has advised CEOs and private equity sponsors across the full investment lifecycle, from diligence through post-close value creation. He has advised CEOs and private equity sponsors along pathways to scale, from first 100 days to pre-exit strategic planning; supported 100+ transactions including a $5B specialty practice acquisition and a $2B healthcare IT deal; and led growth and value creation work across providers, payers, pharmacy, and health technology platforms. He is known for pairing sharp commercial analysis with a bias toward execution — helping teams decide, then helping them deliver.
His work spans consumer healthcare, patient engagement, revenue cycle management, managed care, real-world data, and post-acute care. Doug has run a Fortune 5 healthcare account across 18 projects, built the business plan and go-to-market strategy for a $100M+ revenue unit, and developed a provider asset strategy projected to add $24M in operating income for a state Blue Cross Blue Shield plan. His expertise includes M&A and post-transaction advisory, commercial and vendor due diligence, enterprise growth strategy, value creation planning, transformation governance, and executive relationship management.
Prior to joining FMG Leading, Mr. Van Wie co-founded L.E.K. Consulting’s Atlanta office and started the firm’s pharmacy practice, where he advised several of the largest U.S. pharmacies as clients. He previously worked in commercial and product roles at healthcare technology company Influence Health, where he more than tripled annual client implementations and helped steer the company through its acquisition by private equity.
Doug earned a Master of Business Administration from the MIT Sloan School of Management, where he served as VP of the Design Thinking Club and was a finalist in the Rotman Design Challenge. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, cum laude, with a minor in Business from Auburn University, where he received the Cliff Hare Award for leadership, integrity, and athletic achievement.
